In preparation for the Second Vibration Institute Middle East Conference, RITEC - The Condition Monitoring Company organized a webinar titled "Introduction to Rotordynamics" and was presented by Prof. Aly El-Shafei, virtually for two hours on Tuesday October 13, 2020, free-of-charge.

The webinar introduced the basic concepts of rotordynamics particularly the stability of rotating machinery and unbalance and modal response. The use of the Campbell Diagram, Stability Maps, Bode’ and Nyquist plots, and synchronous frequency response function shall be introduced.

The webinar attracted close to 700 attendees from around the globe, and we look forward to repeating it in the near future.

"Machinery Diagnostics According to ISO 13373 Standards" Webinar was presented by Prof. Aly El-Shafei, virtually for two hours on Wednesday July 28, 2021, free-of-charge.

This webinar introduced the methods of vibration measurement and analysis for machinery monitoring and diagnostics according to ISO 13373.

The ISO 13373 series use fault tables, flow charts and symptom tables to aid in reaching a diagnostic decision.

The base standard is ISO 13373-3 published in 2015 which includes the diagnostics concepts as well as common machine faults. Other standards are machine specific, including: ISO 13373-9 for electric motors diagnostics, ISO 13373-8 for pumps diagnostics, ISO 13373-5 for fans and blowers diagnostics, ISO 13373-4 for steam and gas turbines diagnostics and ISO 13373-10 for electric generators diagnostics.

The webinar attracted close to 326 attendees from around the globe.

RITEC and the Vibration Institute introduced the monthly Middle East webinar series.

Our first speaker, Mr. Chad Pasho, from MSI, talked about "Vibration Video Motion Magnification (VVMM)", virtually online on November 4th, 2021, from 12:30 PM to 02:30 PM (GMT +2 – Time zone: Cairo).

Mechanical Solutions, Inc. will present an in-depth case study tackling high vibration on a vertical turbine pump, and how their VibVue® video vibration and motion magnification tool was an important part of the process leading to a successful solution. They will discuss advantages and limitations of the technology from experience, demonstrate how to use VibVue® in the context of the case study, and address questions regarding the technology.

This webinar introduced cases of gearbox fault diagnosis in the field, and the methodology used in their diagnosis. The techniques used in the diagnosis include spectral analysis, time waveform analysis, envelope analysis, phase analysis, ODS analysis and resonance testing. The cases presented have a wide range including cases of misaligned gearboxes, casing distortion, backlash, wear, teeth overload and teeth resonance. The methods used in diagnosis and the corrective action are presented. These cases are from a wide range of industries including: cement, steel, and petrochemical industries.

This webinar introduced Modal analysis as an essential technology behind solving noise and vibration problems. This presentation focuses on the measurements and equipment needed to make a successful test as well as the reduction of that data to obtain the dynamic characteristics of a structure or system – that is the natural frequencies, damping ratios and mode shapes. The second half of the presentation will touch on various noteworthy applications Crystal Instruments has worked on and discuss the challenges associated with those application examples.
